Water Jade
Water Jade (not a true Jade, but actually a type of Serpentine).

The name Serpentine may have been derived from its ancient use as a cure for snake or serpent bites or because of its green and mottled appearance which resembles that of some snake skins. Serpentine is a name given to a group of mostly green stones that are made up of mostly magnesium silicate. There are two main types: bowenite which is usually a translucent green and williamsite, which is an oily green with black inclusions.
- Hydrated magnesium silicate is a softer variety translucent with a hardness of 4 () - 5.5 found in the British Isles and some other locations. Connemara marble (from Ireland) is a type of cloudy green serpentine.
- Serpentine is most commonly green, though sometimes brown, black, or white. "Antigorite" refers to the darker green version. It sometimes displays a fibrous or greasy appearance. sometimes called "Ophiolite" or "Williamsite."
- Serpentine of all colors have been regarded by many civilizations, not only for power to heal but for beauty and decorative appearance. Vases, boxes, talismans and the pillars supporting buildings have all been made from serpentine. The ancient Egyptians carved sacred scarabs from the stone while Persians produced some beautiful and prestigious serpentine seals.
Green bowenite can be carved into attractive pieces and passed off as jade under the name of "new jade" or "water jade."
- Known as the stone of fidelity and the dream stone. Can be used in the treatment of diabetes and hypoglycemia. This stone was said to be one used in the breastplate of the high priest. Astrological Signs of Aries, Gemini, Taurus , & Libra . Vibrates to the number 11.
- Helps detoxify internal organs, and balance glucose levels in the body. Quickly fills the aura with light green color to relax, soothe, and lighten. Quiets the brain. Increases the perception of the body. Acts like a tuning fork to increases psychic perceptions.

Mystical Properties:
- Considered an important gemstone to the Assyrians as early as 4000 B.C., used in Seals and Cylinders, Serpentine was known as "Za-tu-mush-gir."
- The 30th Chapter of the Egyptian Book of the Dead is said to be carved from a tablet of Serpentine.
- The Aztecs prized all green stones and Serpentine was known to be valued in their time.
- Sometimes considered the 2nd stone on the Breastplate of Aaron during the Exodus. Each of the 12 stones on the breastplate represented one of the 12 Tribes, in this case, Pitdah/Simeon and a banner flag flew in the tribe's camp of this color (light green).
- Italian peasants believed that carrying Serpentine pebbles protected them from the venom of poisonous creatures. These pebbles must be in their natural state and untouched by iron, or they would lose their protective nature.
- Sometimes considered a gemstone of Gemini.
- The state stone of California.
Healing Properties: Serpentine is often mentioned in stress-reduction, and in helping rid the body of parasites and unhealthy microbes.
Scientific Properties: Composed of Magnesium Hydroxyl Silicate. Mg6((OH8) / Si4O10) Serpentine is a secondary mineral, created when water runs through magnesium silicates (hydrothermal). It often has a greasy appearance and is often found lubricating faults.
Mined in the Northeast United States and Quebec, California and Arizona.
Currently mined in Australia. Hardness variable (see individual stones above). Hardness 5 on the Moh's Hardness Scale.
