Rhodonite
Named after the Greek word for rose, rhodon. opaque, deep rosy pink to lavender semi-precious gemstone with characteristic black runners (called dendrites).

The black banding is due to Manganese oxide. An ore of Manganese, important locales include Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Colorado. 5.5 - 6 on the Moh's Hardness Scale.
